Czech D35 highway project
Project Covers 35.4km of New Highway

The project, led by the Czech Ministry of Transport, covers the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of two sections of the D35 highway: Opatovec–Staré Město and Staré Město–Mohelnice. Together, the sections extend approximately 35.4km.

The contract also includes operation and maintenance of the adjacent 17km section between Litomyšl and Opatovec, bringing the total road network under the consortium’s management to approximately 52km.

The two planned tunnels, measuring around 4km and 1.3km, form part of the new highway infrastructure.

PPP to Improve Regional Connectivity

The D35 is a major transport corridor connecting Bohemia and Moravia. Once completed, the project is expected to improve regional connectivity and help reduce congestion on existing roads.

The consortium was selected from three bids submitted. Czech Transport Minister Ivan Bednárik said the decision considered factors beyond price, including the bidders’ experience delivering comparable PPP projects.

Ferrovial CEO Ignacio Madridejos said the project demonstrates the role of public-private partnerships in delivering transport infrastructure and supporting long-term development.

Construction is expected to begin in 2026, according to the project announcement.
