A tunnel boring machine (TBM) operated by the Eiffage Génie Civil–NGE-BTP consortium has achieved its third breakthrough on the Toulouse Metro Line C project in France.
TBM Berthe de Puybusque has reached the future Lycée Toulouse-Lautrec station, following earlier breakthroughs at Fondeyre and Ponts-Jumeaux stations. The machine will now continue excavation towards its final destination at Raisin station.
The Eiffage Génie Civil–NGE-BTP consortium has deployed three TBMs for the project, which involves constructing a new 27km metro line across the Toulouse metropolitan area. The line will comprise 21 stations and provide five interchanges with railway stations.
The consortium was awarded the civil engineering contracts for Lots 1 and 2 by Tisséo Ingénierie.
Lot 1 extends from the Colomiers auxiliary structure, located approximately 100m from Colomiers Gare station, to the Laporte auxiliary structure. The scope includes the design and construction of a 3.85km tunnel, three stations, four intermediate ancillary structures and three shafts connecting the surface to the tunnel.
Lot 2 covers the section from the Laporte auxiliary structure to Raynal station. Its scope includes the design and construction of an 8.416km tunnel, six stations, five intermediate auxiliary structures, a connecting tunnel to the maintenance site and nine shafts connecting the surface to the tunnel.
Once completed, Line C will extend from Colomiers station in the north-west to Labège station in the south-east, providing a new 27km metro connection across the Toulouse metropolitan area.
