Commencing round of market engagement events by MetroLink

At the previous week, London hosted Ireland’s MetroLink’s a market engagement event.

Inauguration of the event was done by Minister for Transport of Ireland Darragh O’Brien at the Institution of Civil Engineers, and Ireland’s UK ambassador, Martin Fraser, and the UK minister of state for rail Lord Peter Hendy also gave addresses.

Giving a detailed view of what will be Ireland’s first metro program, over than 250 were invited to this event.

Linking major transport hubs and key destinations in the Greater Dublin Area, this line will provide a direct rail connection between Dublin city centre and the airport for the first time, whereas much of the 18.8km route of the driverless system will be underground.

Following MetroLink’s London event, an extensive series of market briefings is due to be held across key European cities in September, including events in Paris, Berlin, Milan, Vienna, Madrid and Instanbul.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland is delivering MetroLink in partnership with the National Transport Authority, with construction set to take around nine years following receipt of the Railway Order.

As a keystone infrastructure priority for meeting Ireland’s future public transport needs, MetroLink has been identified under the updated National Development Plan. Its inclusion signifies its importance in shaping sustainable infrastructure investment.

The quantity of a dedicated allocation from the Infrastructure, Climate and Nature fund to MetroLink is €2bn as the July 2025 update said.

FCC, Meridiam, John Laing, RATP Dev and Alstom have formed a consortium to bid for the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of Dublin’s MetroLink.
