Breakthrough Achieved on Lima Metro Line 4 in Peru

Lima Metro Line 4 breakthrough

Consorcio Constructor Metro 2 Lima (CCM2L) has achieved the final breakthrough on the first section of Metro Line 4 in Lima, Peru.

TBM Micaela, operated by the consortium comprising Dragados, Webuild, FCC and Cosapi, reached Carmen de la Legua Station, which is planned to become an interchange between Metro Lines 2 and 4. The machine has arrived at the eighth and final station on this section of Line 4 and will now proceed to a retrieval shaft.

Together with TBM Delia, Micaela has excavated more than 20km of tunnels beneath the city for the Line 4 section.

Commissioned by Peru’s Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Metro Line 2 and Line 4 projects are intended to establish Lima’s first underground metro service. CCM2L is responsible for delivering the 27km-long Line 2 and an 8km section of Line 4.

Tunnel excavation for Line 2 was completed in July, marking another major milestone for the wider metro programme.

Once operational, the lines will connect 10 districts, linking the port and industrial areas of Callao with central Lima and key residential, industrial and logistics zones. The project is expected to reduce travel times between Ate and Callao from approximately two hours and 45 minutes to 45 minutes.

The completion of the Line 4 section represents further progress towards improving urban mobility and connectivity across the Lima metropolitan area.
