Ahead commencing the major construction of the North East Link Tunnels, North East Link Program (NELP) is asking the local community what they think of the look and feel of what’s planned for their area.
Involving new parklands, walking and cycling paths and improvements to local roads, the Urban Design and Landscape Plan (UDLP) shows designs from Watsonia to Bulleen, while it also includes Eastern Freeway upgrades in Bulleen and Balwyn North.
Detailed survey of maps and drawings for people and having their say on design features in their local area, can be able with longer 6.5km tunnels to Watsonia in response to community feedback, as well as a new tree-lined Greensborough Road boulevard, simpler interchanges and new open space.
By preparing the North East Link Program (NELP) to set up construction compounds in Watsonia, Macleod and Yallambie to support major tunneling works and begin building the launch pad for the tunnel boring machines (TBMs) in Watsonia, the detailed designs can be revealed.
The determined date by UDLP for the North East Link Tunnels for public comment at Engage Victoria is from Wednesday 11 May 2022 until 5pm, Tuesday 31 May 2022.
NELP will be using the comments received to update the UDLP before it is submitted to the Minister for Planning for approval ahead of major tunneling works.
