Sydney West Harbour Tunnel Shortlist Revealed

Through finalizing the shortlist for a possible development partner, Australia’s NSW Government has taken the next step in delivering the 6.5km long Western Harbour Tunnel twin-tube.

Earlier this year, Transport for NSW requested private sector expressions of interest to assist with the procurement and implementation of this city-shaping scheme.

To harness business experience, creativity and value for capital, the selection process focuses on delivering the best returns for NSW.

The future development partner will concentrate on handling the procurement and implementation of the Western Harbour Tube, but not on project funding.

The shortlist entails the following developers:

  • – Harbour West Partners – (Consortium comprising Macquarie Capital, Jacobs and RPS)
  • – Bechtel Infrastructure (Australia)

3 – Laing O’Rourke Australia

A formal demand for tenders will shortly be given to shortlisted candidates, with a prospective Development partner scheduled to be revealed in 2021.

Around 15,000 full-time equivalent jobs are projected to be funded by the Western Harbour Tunnel, Warringah Highway Upgrade and Beaches Connect Scheme, providing a significant economic boost to NSW.
