According to the Singapore’s Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) final granted civil contract the Cross Island Line-Punggol Extension (CPe) is due to be advanced.
Completion process of the contract for the design and construction of Elias station and tunnels with S$562m (US$427m) value will be up to a joint venture of CES_SDC Pte Ltd and Chip Eng Seng Contractors.
The Punggol, Riviera, Elias, and Pasir Ris, will be four stations of the 7.3km CPe.
Being located at a depth of about 40m, Elias station will have five entrances, whereas the geology is old alluvium, a predominantly soil-like material comprising sandy and silty clay. Connecting Elias and Pasir Ris stations, with the deepest section around 50m beneath ground, a TBM is due to build a pair of tunnels, each about 1.4km long.
The estimated date for commencing the construction process is the second quarter of this year, and the inauguration should be in 2032.
As Singapore’s eighth MRT line, the Cross Island Line (CRL) is slated to be constructed in three phases. Including 12 stations from Aviation Park to Bright Hill, the CRL Phase 1 is 29km long, while its construction is undergoing and is schedule to be completed by 2030. With the approximate length of 15km, the CRL Phase 2 was announced in September 2022 and comprises six underground stations. Meanwhile, engineering studies for the CRL Phase 3 are ongoing.
