Francia/Grand Paris Express – Major Breakthrough Achieved on Line 6 Tunnels

Grand Paris Express Tunnel

Following successful break through of TBM Houda on November 6 2023, that indicated its entry into the future Sevran – Livry station on Line 6 of the Grand Paris Express, a significant landmark was reached for this project. Considering that this achievement signifies the connection of all 10 stations on Line 16 through the intricate network of tunnels, it has a great importance.

In order to continuing its journey by tunneling through a 57-meter stretch within the Sevran – Livry station, the TBM is poised after the breakthrough. Covering the remaining 770 meters, leading to its exit shaft, placed at Mare au Chanvre in Livry-Gargan will be this machine’s next process, while this accomplishment represents the culmination of an extensive excavation process that includes the 11 kilometers of Lot 2 and the entire 29-kilometer tunnel network of Line 16.

In November 2020 tunneling mission of Houda started from launch shaft, that has been situated in Aulnay-sous-Bois with the goal of excavating a 5.8-kilometer section of Line 16. Along the way, the TBM successfully navigated through the breakthroughs of several future stations, including Aulnay – Val Francilia, Sevran – Beaudottes, and in Sevran.

With intention of revolutionizing the transportation infrastructure in the Greater Paris area, this notable feat represents a significant step forward in the ambitious Grand Paris Express project, and its goal is boosting connectivity and accessibility for the region’s residents and visitors.
