DMRC makes another Golden Line breakthrough

Another breakthrough has been achieved on Phase IV by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Completing digging of the 1,550m tunnel between Kishangarh and Vasant Kunj Station on the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor, the 91m-long EPBM broke through at Vasant Kunj Station on 25 June.

Two parallel tunnels for up and down movement are being constructed on this stretch as part of the Aerocity–Tughlakabad corridor, whereas the breakthrough on the parallel tunnel was made on March 6.

The average depth of the new tunnel was 22.86m, with a minimum depth 15.48m and a maximum of 30.25m. Almost 1,105 rings were installed in the tunnel, which has an inner diameter of 5.8m. The tunnel rings were cast at a fully mechanised casting facility at Mundka and were cured with a steam curing system to achieve early strength.

The 40.109km of underground lines are being constructed as part of the Phase IV. The Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor has underground sections totalling 19.34km.

The date of completing excavation between Maa Anandmayee Marg and Tughlakabad Railway Colony Station was earlier this month and between Chhatarpur and Chhatarpur Mandir Station in August last year.
