Victoria’s big build, connecting Town Hall to Flinders Street and State Library to Melbourne Central Station, moves forward as TBM Millie (Tunnel Boring Machine) is into operation.
Millie is now tunneling through the Domain Precinct, building new stations. TBM Alice will be launched at the beginning of 2021. With TBM Millie moving underground toward the Town Hall Station, work is underway on the construction site to clear away the excavated material.
In the remaining time before the holidays, the Metro Tunnel project will be progressing, especially on the Anzac Station. Construction equipment and machinery will undergo assembly; tunneling support site operations will continue, and meanwhile, concrete slabs are under construction beneath the earth.
From 23 December 2020 to 11 January 2021, the project will be halted. However, tunnel work will gain momentum to create more space for trains across Melbourne’s transport system. For more information, please visit.
