
In the previous week tunneling process of Vancouver’s Annacis Water Supply Tunnel was completed.
Being launched from a vertical entry shaft in the City of Surrey last year, TBM Anna made its final breakthrough at the shaft in the City of Westminster after building a 2.3km tunnel.
While excavating beneath the Fraser River at depths of up to 50m was content of the Metro Vancouver project, this work is being undertaken by a consortium of Aecon and Traylor Brothers.
With the aim of withstand a major earthquake, the Annacis Water Supply Tunnel is one of five new marine crossings in the region.
The scheduled date fo completion of this project is 2028.
