Imst-Haiming Hydropower Plant – Contract signed for construction

With the aim of advancing the main construction lot of the Imst-Haiming hydropower plant, the contract has been concluded by Austrian energy supplier TIWAG-Tiroler Wasserkraft.

The responsibility of building the power plant on the Inn River in western Austria is up to a consortium of Swietelsky Tunnelbau GmbH, Ing. Hans Bodner Bau GesmbH & Co and Implenia.

The works include the construction of a 14km-long waterway with surge tank and tailrace, chambers with inlet and outlet pipes, and the tailwater reservoir.

Following an early contractor involvement (ECI) phase, during which planning was optimised and options investigated in collaboration with the potential partners, this €450m contract was awarded. As well as strengthening relations between the partners early in the process, ECI aims to provide a detailed and robust project estimation.
