Skanska Will Construct Norway Tunnel for Landslide Protection

Skanska constructs Norway tunnel

After making the US$40m agreement with Vestland County Council in Norway, Skanska, the construction company will construct a new road tunnel in Kvinnherad municipality, about 75km southeast of Bergen.

The Fv. 500 Folgefonntunnelen-Årsnes project is designed to supply landslide protection to the road between Årsnes and the Folgefonn Tunnel. It comprises building 1.4km of tunnel plus improvements to different stretches of road.

Early contractor involvement has seen Skanska develop plans over the past twelve months in close collaboration with Vestland County Council.

The construction is anticipated to begin in October 2021 and is planned to be completed in February 2024.
