Including tunnel construction, the announcement of inviting tenders for the development of the metro Blue line has been released by Montréal’s transport body, STM.
The intended bid contract comprises of:
- detailed design, supply and operation of the TBM
- construction of the tunnel between Pie-IX and Anjou West using a TBM
- construction of the tunnel between Pie-IX and the tail tracks of the current Blue line using conventional tunneling methods
- excavation of Pie-IX (main entrance building only), Viau and Lacordaire stations and some auxiliary structures
The determined date for publishing the winning bidder is second half of 2023, while the future month is scheduled time for launching the tenders for other contracts.
Linking five new stations to the metro network, the Blue line project is slated to be expand to the city’s east end. The planed inauguration date of this project is 2029.
