Stantec, an international leader in sustainable design and engineering, has received four Canadian Consulting Engineering (CCE) Awards. The awards celebrate remarkable achievements in the consulting engineering industry and highlight the significant work consulting engineers do in communities across Canada and the world.

Earlier this year, Stantec received the award program’s highest prize, Schreyer Award. The Schreyer Award is presented yearly to the best technical entry. In addition, Stantec received the Awards of Excellence for its Inclusion, Diversity, & Equity Program, plus the company’s work on Ottawa’s Combined Sewage Storage Tunnel.

Award of Excellence

The City of Ottawa’s Combined Sewage Storage Tunnel (CSST), the marquee project of the Ottawa River Action Plan, will considerably decrease the frequency of combined sewage overflows, diminish the risk of flooding in the downtown core, and add resiliency to the operation of the system.

Stantec performed as the City’s principal design consultant from the primary environmental assessment through design, implementation, and building support. The CSST—an engineering action featuring two interconnected deep-rock tunnels constructed with accuracy under businesses, historic sites, and old sewers—places the City amongst the world’s leaders in wet weather flow management, targeting a performance level that well exceeds current industry regulations and guidelines. A significant member of the project team, Environmental Engineer Colin Goodwin, recently made the Canadian Consulting Engineer’s Top 10 Under 40 list.

The Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards is arranged together by ACEC-Canada and Canadian Consulting Engineer magazine and honors these contributions. The CCE Awards are the industry’s highest honors and are presented only to the most impressive engineering feats featured in projects by Canadian companies.

ACEC represents firms in Canada that deliver professional engineering services to both public and private sector clients. These services comprise the planning, design, and execution of all types of engineering projects, plus delivering independent advice and expertise in a vast range of engineering and engineering-related fields. Canadian Consulting Engineer is a privately owned magazine for proficient engineers working as consultants in the construction field.
