First tunnel lining concrete pour complete at Tantagara

Following completion of the first tunnel lining concrete pour at the Tantagara site on Australia’s Snowy 2.0 pumped hydro storage project, this pour marks completion of 10m of the 50m-long transition tunnel by Future Generation JV, comprising Clough and its parent company Webuild, and Whittens.

As a critical link between the water intake diffuser, this transition tunnel is gate shaft and the 17km headrace tunnel.

The concrete pour required 566.5m2 of formwork; 108 tonnes of steel reinforcement; and 800m3 of concrete. The base, walls and crown were poured in stages over 44 hours 45 minutes.

May 2025 was the date of completing the travelling formwork for the tunnel.
