Following that ACCIONA’s teams achieved the landmark breakthrough after they connected Pátio Morro Grande to the future Brasilândia Station on June 24th, they have celebrated this success on the Line 6-Orange subway project in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Considering that connection of the tunnels integrates the heart of the operation of Line 6, where the Operational Control Center (CCO) is located, it is important for the project.
As the largest public-private infrastructure project under development in Latin America, the Orange Line is the largest infrastructure project in ACCIONA’s history.
Including 15.3 kilometres of tunnels, the construction of 15 stations as well as utilizing 2 tunnel boring machines (TBMs), the project generated 9,000 jobs during construction period and once completed is expected to serve 633,000 passengers per day.
As part of their commitment to gender equality and inclusion ACCIONA committed to a target of up to 12% of female labour in different jobs within this project.
Currently the percentage of women employer in this project is more than 500 and in the case of the segment lining ring factory factory, 70% of the production line is made up of female workers. In total, it will manufacture more than 60,000 new segments to construct the line, which is expected to open in 2025.
