The British Geotechnical Association is delighted to declare the nominated entries for the 2022 Fleming Award. The finalists will present at the Fleming Award affair on 6 December, once a judging panel will select the winner.
The BGA Shortlisting Panel was impressed by the mixture of projects, and the great work that has been done by the applicants. The three projects and teams that have chosen to present at the event are:
|A heat-exchange piled foundation solution at the Euston station welfare facility for HS2||Keltbray Ltd., City, University of London, G-Core Ltd., Wentworth House Partnership, Mace-Dragados, HS2|
|Ground improvement for seismically qualified facility||BAE Systems, Atkins, Bachy Soletanche, Morgan Sindall|
|HS2 Phase One, Contract C1||Align Integrated Project Team: HS2, Bouygues Travaux Publics, Jacobs, Rendel-Ingerop and Keller|
The Fleming Award online affair will take place on the evening of 6 December 2022 at the Institution of Civil Engineers. Further information about the event is available on the BGA website.
The Fleming Award Event take place yearly to celebrate the life and work of Dr Ken Fleming and to remember greatness in the practical application of geotechnics in a project or a part of a project. Invited teams generally contain representatives from Clients, Main Contractors, Consulting Engineers, Specialist Contractors and so on. The honor will be awarded to the Project Team that most illustrates excellence in geotechnical design & construction. There will be a focus on teamwork across the various disciplines involved in the project. Also, innovative projects will receive considerations.
During judging, there will be a brief keynote speech by Sergio Solera of Mott MacDonald on The Design and Construction of the New Tidal Barrier and Quay Walls at the Port of Boston, UK.
