The first 7.56m diameter TBM Teban recorded a major landmark moment by commencing excavation at the South Tunnel of the Leighton Asia’s Deep Tunnel Sewerage System Phase 2 – Contract T-09 in Singapore project on 17 May 2021. The remaining two TBMs are expected to breakthrough in the coming months. Leighton Asia has concluded this Contract T-09 which includes 7 shafts and a tunnel with 8 km length.
In 2017, construction process of Phase 2 has been started and this tunnel is going to act as a channel for transferring the used water from the downtown and western parts of Singapore to the new Tuas Water Reclamation Plant. The determined date for completion of almost 24km of the 100km-long conveyance system for phase 2 is April 2021.
