With the aim of diverting river water into Lake Zurich, the TBM has broken through on the Thalwil flood relief tunnel in Zurich.
In order to excavating the 2km-long tunnel from the Sihl Valley to Thalwil, TBM Delia that is operated by Marti Tunnel AG was launched seven months ago.
Diverting the River Sihl into Lake Zurich during heavy rain, this 6.6m-diameter tunnel is going to protect the city of Zurich and the lower Sihl valley from flooding.
