Honaz Tunnel and Ring Road

Honaz Tunnel and Ring Road were inaugurated on January 28th by Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It will extremely reduce the traffic congestion of Denizli. The 2.640 m tunnel and 32 km ring road linking the Aegean and the Mediterranean are said to cut the journey time from 45 minutes to 15 minutes. The project is one of the largest in the Aegean which will save time and fuel.

Turkey’s President was in Denizli on Saturday for a series of programs and attended the mass opening ceremony today at October Boulevard Özay Glum Square.

The President opened 232 facilities in total, comprising investments by the government, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality and district municipalities. With the commissioning of the project, vehicles that will go to Antalya and Muğla from İzmir, Aydın and Pamukkale, and Uşak and Ankara passages will not have to enter Denizli city centre.

Osman Zolan, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, claimed that the Honaz Tunnel and the Ring Road are among the “firsts” of the city and that they are significant investments for Denizli.

Osman Zolan thanked Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karasimailoğlu and everyone who contributed to the project for their support.

He expressed: “January 28 is a historic day for our Denizli. With the participation of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will inaugurate 232 facilities, including the Honaz Tunnel and the Ring Road. I am waiting for all my fellow countrymen to our collective opening feast that will be held at 29 on 13.00 October Boulevard Özay Heart Square”.
