New Landmarks in Martin Place Station

Martin Place Station Caverns

As part of Sydney Metro, which is Australia’s biggest public transport project, work is advancing at the new Martin Place Station.

In order to inform about what the future holds when metro services start in 2024, a walk through the metro station deep under Sydney’s CBD is enough.

Finishing the tunneling process underneath 50 Martin Place at the end of 2021, bringing the excavation portion of the project to a close, constructing the station platforms in the underground caverns.

Completing concreting process of station areas in the north, as well as installing escalators to link customers from the two metro platforms to the existing Sydney Trains network, are the completed works at this station.

The coming phase of the project is going to see the two buildings over the station continue to rise above street level and a further eight escalators will be installed in the atrium in the coming months.
