Sea Crossing Project in Malaysia Mired in Disputes

Zairil Khir Johari, State Executive Council, announced it is still a matter of disputes whether to progress with the sea crossing or not.

Therefore, the Consortium Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd (CZC), a member of Zenith Group, is requested by the state to provide a Feasibility Study by the end of 2020 in order to specify the next steps.

If the FS gains approval from the state, an EIA must be issued and approved by the Department of Environment.

State Executive Council released an official statement declaring, “So, at this time, there is no need to submit an Environmental Impact Assessment for the project until the feasibility report is finalized by CZC.

The proposed 7.2km tunnel under construction will connect Butterworth to George on the island in the north of Malaysia. The undersea tunnel is part of the Penang Roads and Tunnels project that includes three paired roads.
