New Milestone for the Pune Metro Project, India

Earlier this month, TBM Mula finished a 1.6km bore under the Agriculture College and Shivaji Nagar. As a result, The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) achieved a second breakthrough on The Pune Metro Rail Project after the first TBM bored the initial tube in September 2020. TBM Mula was in operation to complete the second underground section 5.1km in length.

The Gulermak-Tata Projects JV had won both of the twin-tube underground alignment, designed to expand the 16.6km Line 1 corridor (purple line comprising multiple stations PCMC, Tukaram Nagar, Bhosari, Kasarwadi, Fugewadi, Dapodi, Bopodi, Khadki, Range Hill, Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Budhwar Peth, Mandai, Swargate). The underground section of Line1 expands from the north Shivaji Nagar to the south at Swargate station and will host 5station in total.

Once completed in 2022, the Pune Metro will include three rail corridors 54.5km in length.
