Being supplied by the China Railway Engineering Equipment Group (CREG)|, the small diameter EPBM, CREC 1076, has excavated 2.3km of the 2.5km pipeline and breaks through on the Macau New Port Area sewage interception pipeline project.
In accordance with CREG’s statement, several challenges such as S-shaped curves with a minimum curve radius of 50m as well as multiple riprap areas, was faced in the tunnel alignment.
With a 3.38m diameter 186m length, CREG’s bespoke EPBM was commissioned in March last year, while it features spherical articulation and muck pumping through sealed pipelines to improve construction efficiency and prevent environmental problems.
Following its completion, the Macau New Port Area sewage interception pipeline project’s purpose will be raising the capacity of the sewage discharge system in Macau’s new port area, and decreasing sea pollution from sewage overflows.
