Through a pre-procurement market engagement event, which has been held 0n 27 May 2022, Transport for London (TfL) began the tender process for tunneling works on the Elephant and Castle station upgrade, while a market sounding questionnaire (MSQ) has also been published.
The construction of new connecting passenger tunnels among the station box and the existing Northern Line platforms, the associated enabling works, and completion of the last remaining civil sections of the station box temporarily omitted to assist the tunnel construction, some post-tunneling ancillary mechanical, as well as electrical and plumbing engineering (MEP) works to reinstate assets in the existing station, are the contents of stage 1that is the early enabling and civil construction.
While the tunneling works are going to be supported through the delivery of a pre-tunneling ancillary MEP works package, determined time for presenting the expressions of interest is 12 noon on May 20.
Although the periodic indicative notice (PIN) released on gov.uk is not an announcement for competition and is not published with the aim of decreasing any time limits for the receipt of tenders, 23 January 2023 is the expected date for publishing the contract notice and the estimated contract dates are January 1, 2024, to September 30, 2028.
Stage 2 will cover the station fit-out.
In order to deliver step-free access and capacity improvement across the London Underground network, the Elephant and Castle station upgrade is a key element of the London mayor’s 2018 Transport Strategy.
