TBM Joan arrives at the State Library Station

TBM Joan entered into the State Library station’s cavern 32 m under Franklin and Swanston streets in Melbourne, Australia, in December. So, it implemented the 1km stretch between the Metro Tunnel station sites at Parkville and the State Library. The next intended TBM will be TBM Meg, which is going to excavate a parallel tunnel.

The next stage is to carry the TBMs through the station box and then assemble them for the final leg of tunnel which links State Library Station to Town Hall Station.

The Alice and Millie, are this project’s other two TBMs which are also digging twin tunnels towards Town Hall Station from the Anzac Station site in the west.
