In order to advancing the British Columbia’s Fraser River Tunnel Project, Cross Fraser Partnership has been granted the Design Early Works Agreement.
As a mark of commencing the development phase, the agreement with the Province of British Columbia allows a transparent and collaborative approach to tunnel design, project schedule, costs and risks.
The Cross Fraser Partnership is a consortium of Pomerleau BC Inc, Bouygues Construction Canada Inc and FCC Canada Ltd (FCC), with the support of design-build and engineering firms Arcadis Canada Inc (FCC) design and engineering consultant Arcadis Canada Inc, whereas it was named as the preferred bidder in July.
Being considered as a replace the 65-year-old George Massey Tunnel, the new eight-lane Fraser River Tunnel will be an immersed tube tunnel with three general-purpose travel lanes and a dedicated public transit lane in each direction. It is also going to feature a separate multi-use path for walking, cycling and other active transport.
