As the part of the Mont Cenis base tunnel at the centre of the new Turin-Lyon railway line, which is being built, the Villarodin Bourget/Modane underground construction site is due to be open to the public for the first time.
The appointment that is for introducing one of the major infrastructures under construction in Europe will be held on the weekend of 15 and 16 June, while, the 2023 edition, in which over than 1,200 people visited the works at the French entrance of the tunnel in Saint-Julien-Montdenis, was held successfully.
The experience starts from the open-air platform where visitors, accompanied by professionals from TELT and its partner companies, will be able to see the working equipment and discover the technical characteristics and challenges of the work. Those who wish can then go deep into the heart of the mountain to see live the places where part of the longest railway tunnel in the world is being excavated.

The Villarodin-Bourget/Modane construction site
The construction of all the tunnels of the Modane underground safety site and several technical caverns, up to 22 m high and 23 m wide, that will be used for the assembly of the two TBMs that will then dig towards Italy, is up to the JV composed of VINCI Construction Grands Projects (leader), DODIN CAMPENON BERNARD, CAMPENON BERNARD Centre Est, Webuild, MASTER DRILLING Europe. From this site, 22 km of the 57.5 km base tunnel will be constructed.
