Delhi Metro accepts proposals for Phase 4 tunnelling works

The parties in qualified countries are the main intention of Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC)’s announcement for the design and construction of twin tunnels by shield TBM on the 20.2km Aerocity to Tughlakabad Corridor of the Delhi Metro Rapid Transit (DMRT) Project Phase 4.

The indicated tender consists of: a cut-and-cover tunnel box and four underground stations at Aerocity, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj and Kishangarh with entry and exits, linking subways and all interim works. The predicted time period for completing this work is 42 months.

Tenders from eligible bidders for the design, execution and completion of Contract DC-8 can be presented online as e-tenders and will be checked in accordance with international competitive bidding practice and JICA’s single-stage, two-envelope bidding procedure.

The determined time for registration is from 24-31 May 2021 and will be opened on June 1 2021.Due to a lack of funds and also shortage of labourers in December 2019, caused by pandemic, last month, DMRC received a US$1.15bn loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the expansion of Phase 4.

The Aerocity to Tughlakabad Corridor is one of three preference corridors that will extend the 389km DMRC network by around 62km; the other two are the 28.9km Janakpuri West-RK Ashram corridor and the 12.5km Maujpur-Majlis corridor. The whole length of the US$6bn Phase 4 is 104km and these three, are part of the overall six corridors that consists this Phase.
