Ontario Line North – RFQs were Issued

Ontario Line North Route

Two Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Ontario Line North segment, including tunnels, have been issued by Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx.

As part of Toronto’s new rapid transit line, the progressive design and build contracts for the Pape Tunnel and underground stations, as well as elevated guideway and stations, are two intended main works packages.

The Pape Tunnel contract includes:

  • Three kilometers of twin tunnels underneath Pape Avenue between the Gerrard portal and the Don Valley bridge
  • Underpinning of the existing TTC Pape Station on Line 2
  • Two underground stations (Pape and Cosburn) and two portals
  • Three emergency exit buildings/emergency services buildings
  • A rail switch/crossover in the section of tunnel near Sammon Avenue
  • Interface with Line 2 TTC subway

Registration of the companies who are interested in bidding on these two contracts is done by downloading the RFQs from this link.

The determined date for issue of a Request for Proposals of the shortlisted teams is early next year.

Locating between the Ontario Science Centre and Exhibition/Ontario Place in Toronto, the Ontario Line is slated to be a 15.6km rapid transit line with15 stations, including six interchange stations. Additionally, it is going to provide over than 40 connections to other subway, bus, streetcar, light-rail transit and regional rail services.
