Construction of a concrete and rock tunnel, which is due to pass beneath Stora Hamnkanalen close to the canal’s Göta älv outlet, is content of this contract.
While the work on the project is going to start immediately, the scheduled date for its completion is summer 2029.
According to Fredrik Indevall, regional manager at Veidekke Anläggning Väst: “We are very happy to have been awarded another Västlänken subcontract. This is testimony to the solid co-operation established with the Swedish Transport Administration and to the expertise of Veidekke’s project organisation to execute such complex projects.”
Expanding for 8km, the West Link double track rail project will include 6km of the route underground and three new underground stations, Gothenburg Central, Haga and Korsvägen.
The Stora Hamnkanalen tunnel is the fourth and final construction contract in the Haga stage of the project.
With the aim of building the Haga–Otterhällan section of the West Link, Veidekke was granted the contract in July last year,
