
Two major contracts, one including construction of a 1.65km-long tunnel, was awarded to Porr by Polish railway infrastructure operator PKP PLK.
Modernisation of line 108 between Jasło and Nowy Zagórz and line 104 between Rabka Zaryte and Fornale in south-east Poland will be up to Porr.
The railway infrastructure in the direction of the Bieszczady Mountains, including tunnel construction, is due to be modernise under the €240m line 108 contract, whereas over a distance of 80km, a total of 18 stations and stops will be upgraded, six new stops will be built, 78 sets of points will be replaced, 80 level crossings is going to be rebuilt and signalling, energy and telecommunications technology replaced.
While using open construction, almost 330m of which will be constructed by cut-and-cover, this 1.65km-long tunnel will be built, the highlight of the project is taking the tracks underground in the urban area of Krosno. Three railway tunnels and three road viaducts will also be built as part of the modernisation.
The scheduled time duration for construction process is about 44 months, and the first trains are planned to run on the new line by the end of 2028.
The upgrade of 15km of line 104 includes the electrification of the railway line and construction of station platforms.
