Cooperating with a specialist not-for-profit organization Mitre, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is trying to strengthen its safety management systems.
Responsibilities of Mitre during the course of the three-year contract will include assessing Metro’s safety culture, developing a plan to improve data analytics, as well as deploying a confidential voluntary reporting program to lower the barriers to hazard reporting.
According to Dr. Christopher Hill, Director of Surface Transportation at Mitre’s Center for Advanced Aviation Systems Development: “Mitre is leveraging our decades of experience in aviation safety to increase safety in all forms of transportation, from the roads to space. Our collaboration with Metro will lead to stronger safety culture and increase safety for riders throughout the region.”
