A contract with €11M (£9.1M) value, in order to undertake technical inspections of parts of the Santiago Metro new Line 7 in Chile, has been won by technology and engineering services provider Ayesa.
Including 19 stations, the 26km line will cross the capital from east to west. The estimated budget for this line by the Chilean Government is €2.3bn (£1.9bn).
While the granted contract to Ayesa covers 10km of sections 2, 3, and 4 of the line, the 10km extends forms the central part of Line 7 and stretches from Matucana to Isidora Goyenechea.
Excavating with the New Austrian tunneling method (NATM), the tunnel for this line will have a total of eight stations, and also it is going to be linked to various lines, including the extension of Line 6, and use driverless trains.
Ayesa will supervise all aspects relating to construction, verification of compliance with technical specifications, and document control for construction and installation contracts.
Additionally, monitoring the compliance with construction methods and safety standards, as well as monitoring the progress made and the schedule for implementation, are this company’s responsibilities.
Considering that this is the second contract Ayesa has been handed for the Santiago Metro, the determined time duration for completing works is five and a half years, whereas it is also providing technical inspection services for the installation, testing and commissioning of systems and equipment for the extension of Line 3.
The former projects of Ayesa were on metro systems in Quito, Ecuador; Lima, Peru; Panama City, Panama; and Bogotá, Colombia.
At the moment this firm’s undergoing projects are the Regio Tram de Occidente project in Bogotá, as well as sections 1 and 2 of Mexico’s Tren Maya and workshops and depots located over its 1,500km of track.
