By Technical bids for construction of a section of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor has been opened by India’s National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHRSCL). As reported, totally three bidders containing two consortiums and Larsen & Toubro have expressed interest in this project.
The first consortium involves IRCON International, Afcons Infrastructure and JMC Projects India while the second includes Tata Project, NCC and J Kumar Infra Projects.
The technical bids are for the construction and design of a 237km long section of the corridor, plus the construction of several stations.
The tender comprises 47% of the total 508km alignment between Vadodara and Vapi.
Since India does not have a high-speed rail network, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor will be the first one for them. Currently, completion is scheduled for December 2023.
The Ministry of Railways stated that “The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project alone will create more than 90,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction of the project.”
