As a move that reinforces its commitment to advancing tunneling excellence across North America and Latin America, Normet has appointed Claudia Hernandez as director of tunneling Americas.
With an expansive experience in underground mining and tunneling, Hernandez has a strong focus on advanced sprayed concrete processes and modern tunnel support systems.
Relying on her over 25 years of industry experience, she has held key technical and leadership roles supporting some of the world’s most complex underground projects and Normet says her background in applied engineering, site operations, and tunnel support technologies ensures that she has both practical and design insight to the challenges faced in today’s tunnelling environments.
With the aim of supporting customers and contractors in optimising the design and application of sprayed concrete and ground support solutions, Hernandez is due to work closely with Normet’s regional teams in the Americas in her new role and will be based in Toronto. She will play a key role in transferring knowledge, enhancing project performance, and ensuring that innovative tunnelling techniques are effectively implemented across diverse ground conditions and project phases.
