The two TBM achievements were celebrated by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group (CREG) in previous week.
With 13.65m-diameter a CREG EPB TBM commenced the digging procees of Türkiye’s Sariyer-Kilyos tunnel on December 6, whereas the machine was commissioned after 70 days of cavern assembly and commissioning.
Being designed to operate at a maximum depth of 172m and navigate a minimum horizontal curve radius of 190m, this TBM is equipped with a system for continuous mining to increase the efficiency.
Providing a direct connection between İstanbul’s Third Bosphorus Bridge and southern parts of the city, this tunnel is 7km long and has been designed by Systra, while the scheduled date for its inauguration is end of 2026.
With maximum advance of 20m per day, the 4.57m-diameter CREG EPM TBM has completed tunneling beneath the River Elbe for the Fernwärmetunnel Moorburg district heating project in Hamburg.
