Advancement of the Al Khaleej Street Tunnel Project, is due to continue under a contract that has been granted by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Running from the end of the ramp of the recently-built Infinity Bridge in Deira to the intersection of Al Khaleej and Cairo Streets, this six-lane tunnel will be 1.65km-long and have the capacity to carry up to 12,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.
The RTA’s Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project which develops for 13km along Sheikh Rashid Road, Al Mina Street, Al Khaleej Street, and Cairo Street, also involves this tunnel as a part of its Phase 4.
The responsibility of overseen this project is up to Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.
