Skanska Secures Norwegian Tunnels Work

E18 Motorway in Norway

In order to delivering a section of Norway’s E18 motorway, including two tunnels, Skanska has concluded a contract with the Norwegian Road Authority.

Stretching between Fornebukrysset and Strand, on the outskirts of Oslo, the new three-lane motorway with 2.3km length will be design and build under this NOK4.6bn (€395m) contract by Skanska. Also the 660m-long Høvik Tunnel and the 440m-long Gjønnes Tunnel, as well as local roads and pedestrian and cycle paths are the subsets of this contract.

The determined date for commencing the construction process is this summer and the project is due to be completed in early 2030. The project will follow BREEAM Infrastructure – level Excellent environmental requirements.

As the major connecting road in the south of Norway, the E18 is running along the southern coast and into Sweden and it will replace one of Norway’s busiest road sections.
