Appointment of BTC as Green Line Development Partner

Calgary - Green Line LRT Project location

In order to deliver the Phase One of Calgary’s Green Line LRT project, Canada and Hochtief subsidiary Flatiron Constructors Canada, has been chosen as the development partner.

As the largest infrastructure undertaking in the Canadian city’s history, the Green Line project with C$5.5bn (US$4.07bn) value in first phase is due to link south-east Calgary to the downtown and into the existing LRT and MAX BRT routes. It will include 18km of dual light rail track, 13 passenger stations, 2km of tunneling, nine major bridge structures including 1km of elevated guideway, as well as a 72-acre maintenance and storage facility. The scheduled date for commencing the construction process is 2024.

Also developing the project design and agree project costs, risk balance, and overall construction schedule before executing a separate project agreement to construct the project are the contents of the 16-month development phase contract that Calgary’s Green Line team and BTC will implement. In order to providing design progression and cost certainty, Green Line agreed to extend the development phase from approximately 12 months to 16 months.
