The signalling, centralised control and driving modes for Cairo Metro Line 3 – Ph3A has been successfully supplied, tested and commissioned by Alstom with a total of 4 stations from Attaba to Kit Kat.
Cairo Metro Line 3 traffic improvements on phase 3A allows more than 30,000 commuters to travel per hour, per direction.
Mr. Kamel El Wazir, the Minister of Transport, have opened the line with Gen/Eng. Sherif Leil the Chairman of National Authority for Tunnels (NAT), H.E Ambassador Marc Baréty, the French Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Ramy Salah, Egypt Managing Director, Mr. Mohamed Ali, Customer Director at Alstom Egypt, Mr. Rufino Ortega, Egypt Systems & Infra Managing Director and Mr. Mena Azer, Project Manager of Alstom Egypt.
NAT has awarded a contract to Alstom in November 2015, to provide system and subsystem design, manufacturing, installation, testing / commissioning, training, maintenance for signalling, driving modes, centralised control and telecommunication systems for Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 3.
On the same date, NAT awarded Alstom, as a member of the G3 Power Supply Consortium, a contract for the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, training, maintenance of power traction system and depot equipment.

Urbalis is an advanced signalling system that assists operators to alleviate commuter congestion. Constantly upgraded, the solution helps urban operators in maximising their performance and capacity while supplying standard supervision and control supporting their operational needs.
The system which is designed for heavy ridership metros, offers a great range of functions that improve headway and average speed performance.
