Barhale has been designated as a supplier contract at the High Speed 2 (HS2) Euston station site in London by the Mace Dragados joint venture.
Responsibilities of civils and infrastructure firm Barhale will be utilities infrastructure works at the site of the new high-speed rail terminus.
Mace Dragados joint venture, which supported the contract in 2019, is constructing HS2 Euston station.
Including the installation of 580m of 1.5m diameter combined sewer and 425m of 1m water main to move the path of two of the existing utilities in the area, Barhale’s program will also entail the installation of 380m of 355mm distribution water main and the diversion of more than seven further water mains, as well as gas mains and various multi-utilities along the route.
Barhale contracts manager Mike Faherty said he is looking forward to Barhale expanding its role in the HS2 program.
He continued: “The appointment reflects not just our experience and reputation for delivering on major capital projects but also the close working relationship we have fostered with the capital’s utility businesses – Thames Water in particular. We are looking forward to working with Mace Dragados to achieve another important milestone in the HS2 program.”
In order to enable the construction of a HS2 ventilation shaft, Barhale previously delivered a water mains diversion in Ealing, West London.
According to Mace Dragados deputy delivery director Paul Leighton: “As we build our team at Euston, having established industry names like Barhale among the ranks is going to bring invaluable experience and expertise. I’m excited to see that in action when Barhale starts its works on the ground.”
The expected date for commencing these utility works is the current year and is due to run through until 2024, while they will take place in a phased manner to minimize disruption to the local area.
