The Italian-based contractor was part of the consortium that oversaw the design and construction of the sports complex, which has now arranged the inaugural game of the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup before the World Cup starts in November next year.

Besides its features of sustainability, the Al Bayt stadium is also characterized by the innovation deployed during its building, comprising difficult technical solutions and innovative design features which had the purpose of guaranteeing acceptable temperature for spectators and players.
The external surfaces are in a light color to decrease heat absorption and boost the efficient use of air conditioning.
It covers more than 200,000 square meters and is encircled by parks and other green areas. As well as safety, the project’s significant features contain the use of advanced materials with a low impact on the environment.
20% of the materials used come from renewable sources. The retractable transparent roof decreases energy consumption and enables the sunlight to favor the growth of grass on the pitch.
The stadium was constructed to meet the needs of local residents, plus visitors from around the world. Following the World Cup, the third ring is going to be removed and donated to developing countries in need of sports infrastructure.
