Van Elle and Keltbray contractors has jointly started piling work to support the electrification of the Core Valley Lines on the South Wales Metro.

The starting date of working on the project was 27 July and both of these companies have experience in rail overhead line foundations and major electrification schemes in Wales.

Supporting the modernization and decarburization of the transport network in Wales, is up to Amey and Transport for Wales (TfW) on this program.

Updating the Core Valley Lines costs almost £738M, while the electrification program covers around 170km of railway track.

Van Elle director of rail David Buckley said: “We are delighted to be supporting the electrification of the Core Valleys Lines on the South Wales Metro project. This important work will make it easier for people to travel across the Cardiff Capital Region, transforming rail services in the region.”

He also added: “I am looking forward to working in partnership with our peers at Keltbray and delivering together for Wales.”

Centers of these both companies are located in Wales and they also have access to Colma road-rail vehicles (RRV) and compatible attachments specifically designed for overhead line equipment piling on the railway.
