Madrid Water Project – Completing tunneling process

Following excavating a distance of more than 4.5km, TBM Lady Madrid, an earth pressure balance machine, reached her final destination at the Los Álamos arrival shaft and tunneling has been completed on Madrid’s Pozuelo de Alarcón collector-interceptor project.

With the aim of improving water management and enabling the development of 7,500 new homes in the Madrid suburb of Pozuelo de Alarcón, this project is due to be implemented by Denys and Eurohinca were subcontracted by Asch Infrastructuras Y Servicios and Grupo Marco.

With an internal diameter of 4.5m,this tunnel crosses four construction pits, along which floodwaters will flow towards the Manzanares, Madrid’s main river.
