In order to advancing a 15km section of the €3.06bn Anillo Vial Periférico (AVP) ring road project in Lima, Peru, which includes twin tunnels, the detailed engineering contract has been awarded to Ayesa.
Accounting for almost 55% of the project’s total capital investment, segment 2 granted by the joint venture of Ferrovial, Sacyr and Acciona.
Including two twin tunnels, multiple structures, retaining walls, trunk and side toll stations, as well as lateral roads to ease local traffic flow, this segment, that is one of three for the project, is going to be designed as an expressway with three lanes in each direction.
During a 38-month timeframe, the Definitive Engineering Studies (EDIs) will be developed by Ayesa, whereas these studies are due to provide comprehensive analyses and plans that ensure the project meets engineering, regulatory, and safety standards while assessing feasibility and estimating costs.
Linking connect Lima and Callao, this 38.4km-long toll highway will serve over than 4.5 million residents across 11 districts and was delivered under a public-private partnership model.
By improving connectivity with key routes such as the Panamericana Norte, Panamericana Sur, and the Central Highway, this project intends to alleviate traffic congestion in Lima. Additionally, it will link with Lima’s metropolitan transport systems, including Lines 1, 2, and 4 of the Lima Metro, the Metropolitano, and the forthcoming San Juan de Lurigancho-Independencia cable car.
