Hudson River Tunnel – Gateway Development Commission issues RFQ

In order to advancing the design, construction and other related work of the Hudson River Tunnel portion of the Hudson Tunnel Project, the Gateway Development Commission (GDC) has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ).

The final scheduled date for responses is December 6, 2024.

Construction of the new 3.9km two-tube Gateway Tunnel beneath the Hudson River, between Newark, New Jersey, and New York City’s Penn Station, as well as refurbishing Amtrak’s existing 112-year-old North River rail tunnel, which was badly damaged by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, are the contents of Gateway Program.

The date of granting the first tunnel boring contract for the program by GDC was August 2024, while responsiblity of the Palisades Tunnel Project, constructing the first 1.6km of twin tunnels on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River, will be up to  Schiavone Dragados Lane JV.
