Namma Underground Metro – Breakthrough on Pink line

Following that the Namma Metro’s TBM Tunga S-839 B exacavated 936.6 m between Kadugondanahalli  Station to Nagawara Station’s South Cut & Cover Shaft, on 04th September 2024 penetrated at Nagawara, the terminal station of the Pink Line.

On 2nd February 2024 the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited’s (BMRCL) TBM Tunga started its final drive, whereas in July the machine set a new record, tunneling 308 m between K.G. Halli and the Nagawara retrieval shaft, surpassing the previous record of 273 m set by TBM Urja between Cantonment and Pottery Town in May 2022.

In order to building the Namma Metro lines across Bangalore,BMRCL has deployed nine TBMs, while eight of these machines,Urja, Varada, Avni, Lavi, Vindhya, Vamika, Rudra and Tunga,have successfully completed their tasks and twin tunnels totalling to 21.9 km are the contents of the underground section.

As the ninth TBM, final drive of Bhadra commenced on 2nd April 2024 and its current destination is the 939-m northbound tunnel from K.G. Halli to Nagawara.

Linking Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara via Diary Circle, M G Road and Shivajinagar, the 21.26 km Pink Line has 13.76 km of Underground Section from Dairy Circle to Nagawara.
