Following excavating of 1.62km from Lanner (east access) and 920m from Herregarsbekken (west access), digging process of the northern tube of the Bjønnåsen twin road tunnel in Norway was completed by Eiffage Génie Civil.
The scheduled date for completing excavation of the southern tube on Lot 2 of the E18 motorway project is end of September,while it will be completed after the remaining 200m are dug.
The method that was used for boring of each 2.5km tube of the Bjønnåsen tunnel was drill and blast, whereas the average daily advance was 5-7meters pin each tube, depending on the numerous ground injection phases.
Linking the towns of Langangen and Rugtvedt, is done by Lot 2 of the Norwegian Ministry of Transport project.
Additionally, design and build contracts for Lot 1 (Langangen-Lanner) and Lot 3 (Kjørholt-Rugtvedt) is up to Eiffage and Lots 1 and 3 works are expected to be delivered mid-2025; Lot 2 is scheduled for completion by early 2026.
